How to score good marks in IBPS Bank Exams Quant Section

Quantitative Aptitude is considered to be the toughest section in any bank exams. This section is considered to be the arch nemesis of almost every Banking Aspirant (if it is not the case with you, believe us, we are so happy for you).Quantitative section will have 40 questions for 50 marks. It means 1.25 marks for each question. Candidates who are good at the Math section can score good marks in the overall examination. The PO exam will begin in October while the Clerk exam will be conducted in the month of November-December 2016.
How to prepare Quant Section
1. First of all clear the basics of all the chapters in Quant.

2. Learns square roots up to 50 and cube roots up to 25.

3. Do calculations Fast.
This is the point where the students should focus seriously. No matter how intelligent they are.
I will give you one example.
Suppose there are 40 questions asked in any bank exam and the time limit is 30 minutes. Then how many questions can students attempt? or How many marks can they obtained? Most of the students says 25 to 30 marks. Average score is 25-30 marks. What about rest 20-25 marks? Why they are not able to get atleast 45+ marks in Quant section?
At the same same time if the examiner says you have 3 hours to attempt all the 40 questions. Then how many marks can they obtained? I guess all them should get atleast 45+ marks.
Same set of questions , same students but marks different. Why?
Any guess? yes, Time factor is the most important. In the first case time limit is 30 minutes but in the second case time is 3 hours.
Suppose you have only 30 minutes and the same set of questions but the examiner allows calculator. Then how many marks can you obtained? Most of the students say 40+.
Do you think Why the marks increases even the time is same i.e 30 minutes (in first case and third case). Yes , because of calculator. The difference of 10-15 marks is because of calculations.
So, Do calculations fast. Daily atleast 1 hour do calculations like multiplication, percentage, division, etc

4.Practice more questions on
profit and loss
Time and Work
Series
Inequality
Average
Ratio and Proportion
Percentage and Mensuration

5. Candidates who are preparing for the QA must focus on the DI. Data interpretation questions are asked in the PO examination which will have maximum number of questions from this part.

6.Categories of Questions: Divide all Questions in Quant section into two categories.
(1) Easy and Scoring Questions
Start your quantitative section with these questions. These questions are generally easy to solve , require less time and you can easily achieve high accuracy.
Some of the topics are
Simplification
Arithmetic Topics, Problems on Ages,Percentage, Averages, Simple Interest/Compound Interest, Ratio & Proportions, DI (one of the DI Sets )
(2) Time Consuming Questions
Questions in this category are difficult than above and may require more time to solve. Attempt them after solving first category questions.
For students who just want to clear sectional cut offs solving first category questions with a few question from second will be enough but then you will need to solve decent number of question in both English and Reasoning to clear the overall cut-off.
7. Solve previous year Questions
8. Start attempting as many Mock Tests as possible.
9. Avoid Guess Works
10. Keep a notebook with yourself where you write important points and formulas. This will help you in your exam days.
We hope this article will provide a lot of knowledge and confidence to score good marks and crack any bank exam. All the best..... and Good Luck......
